Chisinau City Hall created a “trust hotline” in order to eradicate corruption

The Chisinau City Hall created a telephone trust hotline to establish a direct contact with the citizens and, ultimately, to prevent and eradicate corruption from municipal institutions. According to a press release of the City Hall, each day from to 8.00 – 17.00 the citizens may call 22-55-29 and report corruption cases from the City Hall officials and subdivisions of the Municipal Council of Chisinau. The Citizen information and documentation Center, opened on July 13, was also meant to prevent corruption in municipal institutions. In this center activate several consulting offices for land property, architecture and urbanism, construction authorization, patrimonial relations (like living space privatization), trade, services etc. The goal of these offices is to provide answers for all citizens’ questions about the local public administration through the persons in these offices, and therefore the contact of the citizen and the civil servant is eliminated. The decision to create these offices has been made by the municipal authorities as a result of the numerous corruption accusations, brought by both government and citizens, through petitions.
