SHMIT German Company, winner of a tender previously organized by Chisinau City Hall, will bring within ten days the first snow ploughs from a batch of 20 modern units, purchased by the municipality.
The whole batch of snow removing vehicles will be brought to Chisinau by the end of this year. Interim mayor Vasile Ursu told Info-Prim Neo that the whole equipment costs 39,000 lei. The equipment is universal: in winter it will be used for removing snow and spreading antiskid material, while in summer, by changing certain tools, for sanitation works.
Head of dwelling-communal Division within the local administration, Mihai Solcan, told Info-Prim Neo that the City Hall intends buying in future 50-60 units of modern snow removing cars from the specialized firms in the West Europe. According to Solcan, the City Hall does not have at present specialized equipment for snow removal, and only 500 persons of 1150 possible are involved in the sanitation works, Solcan added. He mentioned that once the modern equipment is purchased, additional workers will not be needed.
Vasile Ursu asked the people in charge from the given Division to take necessary actions to instruct the persons that will use this equipment, as the authorities can not admit such an expensive equipment - about EUR 140,000 for each car - to get broken because of the employees’ unprofessionalism. He also sought to supply the specialized services with the antiskid material.
According to Solcan, about 13 to 16 mln lei are annually necessary for maintaining these cars and paying the employees for their services.
