The local public administration requested to authorize a storehouse at the municipal refugee placement center “Patria Lukoil” as part of which to receive donations and foreign aid and assistance from business entities. Such a call was made by mayor Ion Ceban to the Government and the unified center for the management of the crisis of Ukrainian refugees, IPN reports.
“Over the past week, we saw an increase in the number of persons sheltered at the placement center “Patria Lukoil”. As many as 86 persons have been accommodated at this center and there are now free places. According to the plan, a number of placement centers will be activated if need be. We yet hope that this war will end as swiftly as possible,” Ion Ceban stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
According to him, the refugees at this placement center are supplied with food for three times a day. Medical and social assistance is also offered if necessary. The refugees are given parcels with the necessary food and hygiene products. But the Government does not supply this center with aid received from foreign partners and this is a problem.
“After the Government on March 16 decided to take over the placement center housed by Moldexpo from the City Hall, the municipality of Chisinau actually remained without an authorized storehouse,” said the mayor.
Ion Ceban noted that by a decision taken by the Municipal Commission for Exceptional Situations, it was requested to create a crisis cell at the Chisinau City Hall for efficiently managing the flow of Ukrainian refugees in the municipality and for strengthening the capacities of the municipal public health facilities.
