Chisinau City Hall and National NGO Council sign cooperation agreement

The Chisinau City Hall and the National NGO Council of Moldova signed a cooperation agreement on February 22. The document was signed by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca and the Council's head Daniela Terzi-Barbarosie, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the City Hall says the agreement is designed to make the cooperation between the municipal authorities and civil society official. Dorin Chirtoaca said the event represents a shift to a new stage in ensuing transparency in the municipal administration's work. He expressed his confidence that the local authorities will receive prompt recommendations from civil society on how to solve the problems faced. “We expect that there will be an efficient dialogue with civil society,” said Daniela Terzi-Barbarosie. She added that civil society wants a platform for new ideas and projects that could be implemented in concert with the City Hall. Representatives of civil society will take part in the ordinary meetings of City Hall officials, of deputy mayors, division heads and company directors and in other activities carried out within the municipal subdivisions. The municipal subdivisions are to quarterly provide progress reports in public meetings involving deputy mayors and councilors who form part of different commissions. The civil society representatives will be able to intervene when the reports will be rendered.
