The winners of the Romanian language contest “A dictation for everyone” will receive money awards of up to 2,000 lei. The Chisinau City Hall allocated 50,000 lei for the purpose. If there are more winners, the Chisinau municipality will provide more funds. Each of the participants will receive by a pen and a book “You called me, son?” written by Grigore Vieru, IPN reports.

The Culture Division’s head Lucia Culev told a news conference that the contest is open to everyone, regardless of age, occupation and sex. It will take place at the Municipal Library “B. P. Hasdeu” and at the Language Faculty of the Moldova State University at 11am on August 27. The results will be announced on August 30, while the prizes will be handed over in a festive event on August 31. “This contest is a challenge for everyone, including artists, politicians, and scientists,” stated Lucia Culev.

Moldova State University lecturer Irina Condrea said that this contest is a personal test. “We call on everyone to take part in it and see how correctly they write. In time orthography changes and new dictionaries appear. The language develops,” she stated.

The lecturer also said that it will be a rather easy literary text of about 2,000 signs. Each participant will receive by a coded form. The text will be read four times: for listening, repeating, writing and checking. The contest will last for about an hour.

The names of winners will be published on the websites www.litere.md and www.chisinau.md and on the facebook page www.facebook.com/dictare pentru fiecare.

The contest is staged on the Our Language holyday that is marked on August 31.
