Chisinau Circus might be reopened in 2-3 years

The doors of the Chisinau Circus will be opened for the public sooner than in several years. The Ministry of Culture will asses the building and things inside it if the court decision whereby the Circus was returned to the state is not disputed within 20 days, Minister of Culture Boris Focsa stated for Info-Prim Neo. “We will try to make a feasibility study and determine the approximate costs. Afterward, we will make approaches to investors and funds,” the minister said, adding the Circus might be reopened in 2-3 years if a good administrator is named. The Chisinau Circus was leased out to a Cypriot company for a period of 29 years in 2008. The company pledged itself to restore the building, but did not honor its obligations. Last February, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a civil lawsuit, demanding that the contract be declared null and void. On March 31 this year, the Economic Court of Appeals annulled the contract.
