Chisinau children with special needs to receive medical assistance at home

The disabled children from the municipality of Chisinau will be provided with social and medical assistance at home during two years. Svetlana Chifa, head of the Division for Child Rights Protection, has told Info-Prim Neo that the service is intended mainly for the children confined to bed and those suffering from locomotor disabilities. The mobile team that will provide assistance at home will consist of a social worker and a kinetotherapist. Other doctors will be involved if need be. “There are many children with special needs in the municipality of Chisinau. The mobile team is to assist 40 children a month. The social worker will regularly go to the child's place to see what they need and what difficulties they encounter,” said Svetlana Chifa. The service forms part of a project initiated by the municipal Division for Child Rights Protection and the public association Keystone Human Services International Moldova. According to statistics, there are over 16,000 children with special needs in Moldova, over 2,000 of whom in the municipality of Chisinau.
