Chisinau children to participate in Olympiad of Tricolor in Reggio Emilia

Thirty-nine children from Chisinau sports schools will take part in the Olympiad of the Tricolor in Reggio Emilia, an Italian town that twinned with Chisinau in 1989. The competition will take place between August 21 and 26. The sportspersons will leave for Italy later today from the Chisinau City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the City Hall. The Olympiad takes place once in four years. The sportspersons from Chisinau have participated in the competition two times, in 1997 and in 2001. The students from Chisinau will compete in six events: swimming, chess, taekwondo, shooting from pneumatic gun, table tennis and beach volleyball. Reggio Emilia is also called the Town of the Tricolor as the Italian tricolor was adopted there in 1797. The idea of marking the event by the Olympiad of the Tricolor was put forward in 1997. The competition is held once in four years and includes sports, artistic, cultural, recreational events and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
