Chisinau Cereal Company will clear historical debts only if court says so

The state will pay the historical debts of the Chisinau Cereal Processing Company JSC claimed by several companies only if the court will confirm their existence, the presidential press service reported. According to the cited source, President Vladimir Voronin ordered the creation of a working group composed of representatives of the enterprise and specialists of the Privatisation Agency, Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption and the Prosecutor General’s Office. By November 15, the commission is to formulate a detailed analysis of all the transactions contracted by the company in order to clear up the causes of the debts. The head of state stressed the strategic importance of the given enterprise, mentioning that if the government loses its stake in the company the food security of the country will be endangered, especially taking into account this year’s extreme drought that affected Moldova. The state holds an 81.2 % stake in the Chisinau Cereal Processing Company. The company said its accounts payable amount to MDL 5.2 million.
