Chisinau center to be car-free only on Sundays

The Chisinau City Hall has notified residents that starting this week and until the City Day on October 14, the central streets will be closed to vehicle traffic to form a car-free zone only on Sundays, excluding Saturdays. On September 8 the City Hall began piloting a pedestrian zone project during weekends, closing the following downtown area to vehicle traffic: Stefan cel Mare Blvd (the segment between Pushkin St and Alecsandri St), Mihai Eminescu (the segment between 31 August 1989 St and Mitropolit Varlaam St) and Vlaicu Parcalab St (the segment between 31 August 1989 St and Mitropolit Varlaam St). During car-free days, public transport is detoured to adjacent streets.
