There is music and good mood in the center of Chisinau, where young and old gathered together to celebrate. This year the capital city celebrates 580 years of the first attestation in documents, IPN reports.
Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca started officially the holiday by opening a barrel of wine near the Triumphal Arch in the Great National Assembly Square. He urged the guests to drink some wine in order to warm themselves up as it is now colder than on other Patron Saint Days.
The district head’s offices of Chisinau mounted exhibitions and set up stages for the young talents to present their abilities along Stefan cel Mare Blvd. The program of the holiday includes the inauguration of the renovated Stair of Cascades in the Park “Valea Morilor”, a concert on the pedestrian street by singers Geta Burlacu and Cristi Aldea-Teodorovici, and a concert in the central square that will involve national stars and invitees from Romania.
The section of Stefan cel Mare Blvd between the streets Maria Cebotari and Ismail is inaccessible to motor vehicles. The access to the concert in the Great National Assembly Square will be through ‘filter’ police cordons. Alcoholic beverages in the square are banned.
