Chisinau budget will accumulate by 42m lei less following modification of Tax Code

The budget of Chisinau municipality for 2013 will fail to collect millions of lei as a result of the amendment of the Tax Code. Finance Division head Veronica Herta has told Info-Prim Neo that initially they proposed that the owners of cars pay 800 not 400 lei into the Road Fund, 400 lei of which was to be transferred to the municipal budget as local tax. Afterward yet, the local tax for units of transport was eliminated. “Following amendments made to the Tax Code, the road tax was increased, but the local tax for units of transport was removed. Thus, the taxpayers in the municipality of Chisinau will pay a double tax, but the municipal budget will contain by 42 million lei less compared with the initial calculations,” said Veronica Herta. She also said that under the changes made to the Tax Code, the Road Fund tax will bring 84 million lei into the municipal budget, while the local tax for units of transport will bring zero lei. In such a situation, the municipality will have to reduce the costs planned for 2013 by at least 42 million lei.
