The Chisinau municipality today held its traditional Sports Gala to offer diplomas and money prizes to the best athletes and coaches of the year.
“We are happy to see that these athletes, after the awards ceremony, show interest and involvement in the sports activities in Chisinau’s educational institutions, trying to serve as role models for the kids”, stated Viorica Negrei, interim head of the Education Division.
The awardees include Serghei Marghiev (hammer trow), Oleg Tarnovsshi (canoeing), Andrei Prepelita (freestyle wrestling), Dan Olaru (archery), Adrian Mardare (javelin throw), Alexandra Emilianov (discus throw), Oleg Nuta and Ilie Sprincean (canoeing), Svetlana Saenco (wrestling) and Eugen Matveiciuc (judo).
The awarded coaches are Soslan Marghiev, Victor Reneischii, Ruslan Bodișteanu, Ion Gheorghiță, Irina Cecanova, Valeriu Lungu, Vadim Hranovschi, Vadim Salcuțan, Victor Peicov and Mihail Leu.
The Sports Gala is an annual event held since 1998.
