Romanian singer Madalina Manole died on Wednesday morning, on the day when she would have turned 43. Artists from Chisinau who knew her say they were shocked by the news. “I was lucky to know her. We were to cooperate within a project, but now she's gone,” Cornel Botgros said in a news conference centering on another topic. “Madalina Manole was a special woman with a great heart. This news saddened us all,” said Arsenium. [Update] Ion Suruceanu stated for Info-Prim Neo that Madalina Manole is one of the most loved Romanian singers. He said he remembers her successful debut at the age of 15, when everyone realized she was a star. “I had followed her during 20 years. I was impressed by her splendid voice and extraordinary repertoire,” the singer said. Madalina Manole was found dead by her husband in their home in Otopeni, near Bucharest. The singer was discovered near the bathroom, in a pool of blood. She had her head injured. Doctors also found a bottle containing a yet unidentified chemical substance she is suspected to have drunk, police sources told Mediafax. Paramedics found her in cardiac arrest and were unable to resuscitate her. Three weeks ago, the singer is reported to have attempted to kill herself taking an overdose of ibuprofen and paracetamol. The artist left a goodbye message on the telephone of her husband, saying she regrets her action because she knows that everybody loves her, but she does not feel beautiful anymore. Madalina Manole is survived by her husband and their two-year-old son.
