When the sports complex Chisinau Arena is built, Moldova’s attractiveness for holding large-scale concerts will increase, said the secretary of state in charge of culture at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Andrei Chistol. According to him, Chisinau could become a tourist attraction both for nationals and for foreigners, IPN reports.
The functionary said this complex will meet the standards of international sports federations. When deciding the conditions that the Chisinau Arena is to meet, the sports federations of Moldova were consulted. “There are already particular signals from the cultural community as to the necessity of a modern platform for organizing concerts and the population’s interest in cultural activities will increase a lot,” Andrei Chistol stated in the talk show “Issue of the day” on Canal 2 TV channel.
The manager of the National Mini-Football Sports Federation Sergiu Carauș said such a complex was definitely needed in Moldova. Some of the athletes now train in a polyvalent hall where it is cold and the necessary conditions are absent. “Tiraspol has an Olympic poll, Olympic running tracks and a stadium. We have nothing, not even an Olympic pool. The running tracks were installed only recently,” he noted.
The works to build the multifunctional sports complex of national importance Chisinau Arena were started in Stăuceni commune of Chisinau municipality on October 14. The complex that will include a polyvalent hall with the capacity of over 4,000 seats, a hall for training and holding small events, an Olympic swimming pool and other facilities is to be inaugurated in 12 months.
