Chisinau and Tiraspol fail to reach understanding on car plates

Chisinau and Tiraspol haven't reach an understanding on the model of the registration plates to be used on vehicles from the Transnistrian region, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov met on Friday in Chisinau with Tiraspol's chief negotiator Nina Shtanski. He told reporters after the meeting that a model was proposed for the plates, which however still needed adjustments to conform to international standards. Nina Shtanski for her part said the proposed model wasn't in line with the earlier established principles, as it displayed the codes MD and T, which “categorically won't be accepted” by the Transnistrian side. She insisted that the plates should be “neutral”. Earlier, following consultation with foreign partners, Chisinau and Tiraspol agreed to develop a model for vehicle registration plates for cars from the Transnistrian region that could be recognized internationally.
