The possible options for advancing the dialogue of the key negotiators of Chisinau and Tiraspol in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process on such issues as removal of barriers to the free movement of persons and units of transport and opening of the bridge over the Nistru River between Gura Bacului and Bacioc villages were discussed at the office of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol on February 7, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Reintegration Office says the political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol, Gheorghe Balan and Vitaly Ignatyev, assisted by representatives of the OSCE Mission to Moldova and Ukraine, pleaded for advancing the dialogue on aspects related to the implementation of the protocol decision on the resumption of freight transportation through the Transnistrian region, whose period of validity was recently extended until December 31, 2017.

The ensuring of Dubasari farmers’ access to the farmland located beyond the Tiraspol-Rybnitsa road, implementation of the project to remove hazardous chemical waste accumulated at the Meat Complex in Tiraspol (5 tonnes of ammonia) and creation of conditions to ensure the functioning of the Moldovan-administered, Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region were also among the discussed subjects.

The sides expressed their readiness to reactivate all the existing dialogue platforms, by depoliticizing the socioeconomic and humanitarian issues and agreeing model solutions for the population from both sides of the Nistru. There was also mentioned the necessity of mobilizing the potential of the participants in the 5+2 format talks so as to involve them in the process and agree viable decisions on issues that can be solved at the current stage. Chisinau and Tiraspol showed openness in this regard.
