The Chisinau International Airport will independently manage its public catering facilities for which a number of tender contests were previously announced, but these failed, IPN reports.
In a press conference, Sergiu Spoiala, the Airport’s interim administrator, said that the spaces will be used as from March 1. He assured that the offer will be diversified and the prices will be fair. There will be ensured transparent management of the revenue, which will be reinvested to improve conditions in the terminal.
"We are convinced that, in the long term, this change will bring significant benefits to all those who transit the airport," said the interim administrator of the Chisinau International Airport.
Among other plans, Sergiu Spoială mentioned the expansion and modernization of the terminal, improvement of the security infrastructure and facilities for passengers, and optimization of operational processes.
At the same press conference, Public Property Agency director Roman Cojuhari said that the contest to choose the independent member of the Board of Directors of the Chisinau International Airport is launched on Friday and those interested are invited to apply.
The Chisinau International Airport was transferred under state management two years ago, after it had been managed by Avia Invest SRL for 10 years. The agreement was denounced on the grounds that the company did not honor its investment obligations.
