The terms of leasing the Chisinau International Airport will be determined after the feasibility study is completed, Public Property Agency director Tudor Copaci told a news conference on Wednesday.
Copaci says that, at a first stage, the Airport requires investments of nearly 200 million euros to rehabilitate the runway and the lightning, works which can't be delayed any further, as well as to build modern terminals and a parking deck.
“After the feasibility study is completed, a new Government decision will be adopted to lease the Chisinau International Airport, which will stipulate the selection criteria of the private partner that will rent this state enterprise. The decision will also stipulate the lease period, which could range from 30 to 50 years”, said Tudor Copaci.
He added that in CIS countries nearly 70 percent of airports are leased and in European countries the percentage is 30 to 40%.
