The 60 advertisements placed by the Humanist Party of Moldova (PUM) all over Chisinau were posted without the consent of the competent bodies and in breach of the law, the Chisinau City Hall says in a communique issued in response to the party's statement made public this morning.
According to the Chisinau administration, the adverts were discussed with the National Terminology Center after placed. The Center demanded that the text of the advertisement be modified and corrected.
In the statement, the PUM accuses the Chisinau City Hall of illegally ordering taking down the advertisements with the leader of the Humanist Party Valeriu Pasat, arguing street advertising in Russian is banned in the capital city, while the adverts in Romanian contain mistakes.
The City Hall says it did not ban the Humanist Party from placing posters, but sent a letter to all the owners of billboards, stressing the necessity of respecting the rules of grammar on the advertisements.
The Chisinau administration describes the PUM's actions as an electoral challenge aimed at bringing up an invented subject.
Last week, the PUM placed in Chisinau advertisements with the text “The guestarbaiter returned home! He rejected all the proposals made by foreign billionaires and officials and came back because he loves his mother country!” in Romanian and Russian.
