Chisinau administration proposes fully financing school repairs from local budget

The Chisinau City Hall suggests that the repair of the schools and kindergartens in the municipality should be fully repaired from the local budget, which, according to Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, allows it. The mayor said that this way the parents will not need to contribute money to the repair of the education institutions, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We should finance the repair of the institutions proportionally to the number of students so that there is competition between them as regards the use of money and this money is enough to carry out more works,” the mayor said in a meeting at the City Hall. Currently, the repair of schools and kindergartens is half financed by the Chisinau authorities and half by the parents of the children attending these institutions. The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport will examine the possibility of fully financing the repair works until the local budget is approved in second reading. “The Education Division may play the role of intermediary in collecting applications from education institutions and in purchasing materials with the money allocated for every institution,” said the mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca instructed officials of the Education Division to prepare a formula that would motivate the heads of education institutions to save money and economize on utilities.
