Chisinau administration claims right to penalize vendors illegally selling soft drinks

The Chisinau City Hall will ask the Government to empower the competent municipal authorities to penalize the companies that will sell soft drinks and other perishable products that do not meet the quality standards or without authorization in summer, Info-Prim Neo reports. “One of the proposals is to allow the police to confiscate the goods if irregularities are identified. Now the preventive medicine service and the police cannot apply the relevant measures and there is a kind of disorder in the municipality of Chisinau. The responsibility is born by the local public administration, but we do not have the necessary penalization instruments,” said the head of the General Division of Trade, Public Food and Service Provision Vladimir Nirca. He also aid that the City Hall has the right to issue authorizations, but only the courts can withdraw them. “There will be no order in the city in the near future with such distribution of powers,” said Vladimir Nirca. Acting Mayor General Nistor Grozavu said this is not the only area where the municipal administration does not have penalization powers. “The situation is much the same in the construction and transport sectors,” he stated. More than 80 companies have so far received authorizations allowing selling soft drinks in summer.
