The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) said the Transnistrian side continues to obstruct the activity of the Commission and artificially worsens the situation in the Security Zone. In a press release, the Moldovan delegation says that in the November 26 meeting of the JCC, Russia’s delegation requested again approving the candidate for the post of Commission member on behalf of Russia and the rotation of Russian military observers, IPN reports.

As to the first subject, the Moldovan side noted the inopportunity of discussing it and reiterated the necessity of taking into account the recommendations formulated during ten consecutive meetings. As regards the second subject, the Moldovan delegation suggested again that the new Russian military observers should be approved according to the agreed procedures and asked that they should discuss the free movement issue, which has been delayed by the representatives of Tiraspol since January 29, 2015.

“As usual, the representatives of Russia and Transnistria, not wanting to advance the discussions on the enumerated issues, blocked again the meeting, without formulating clear perspectives,” it is said in the communique.

In the meeting, the Moldovan delegation presented an application, by which it asked that the Transnistrian side should stop the provocative actions in the Security Zone and in the immediate neighborhood and should refrain from taking actions that make the situation in the region tense.

In connection with reports about possible destabilizing actions in the region during the ‘elections’ set to take place in Transnistria on November 29, the Transnistrian side asked taking all the necessary measures to maintain the public order and prevent the violation of the basic human rights and freedoms.

In the same connection, the Moldovan side warned the population and the foreigners who are in Moldova not to travel to the Transnistrian region without reason on November 28-29 so as to avoid incidents and premeditated provocations on the part of the local military bodies.
