The Liberal Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca made a public invitation to his opponent Zinaida Grecheanyi, who represents the Party of Socialists, to take part in electoral debates at the Chisinau Electric Transport Company on June 19. The invitation was made in a press briefing held at the building site on the Stair of Cascades in the Chisinau Park “Valea Morilor”, IPN reports.
Chirtoaca promised he will not attack verbally and will not put Zinaida Grecheanyi in an embarrassing situation. “We want a public debate in a civilized atmosphere, where the Socialists’ candidate will tell us which are their solutions to the problem of public transport in Chisinau, given that they boasted they found cheaper suppliers,” said the Liberal candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau.
Dorin Chirtoaca also said that he wants to find out, if the Socialists’ candidate wins the elections, to what extent the intergovernmental five-year agreement signed with Belarus, concerning the assembling of trolleybuses in Chisinau, will be respected. “It is an international agreement that is more important that any electoral promise,” he stated.
As to the building site on the Stair of Cascades, Chirtoaca said there were many speculations about it, as about the lake in “Valea Morilor” Park. “They destgroyed, but we build,” he stated.
The second round of the mayoral elections in Chisinau will be held on June 28.
