Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and the Transnistrian leader Yevgheny Shevchuk on March 14 signed an accord to extend the agreement on the movement of freight trains through the Transnistrian segment until the end of 2016, IPN reports.

This was the first meeting of the two since the Moldovan Premier’s appointment. After the meeting, Chiril Gaburici said they agreed preliminarily that the people’s movement will be free, especially during holidays. The dismemberment of the ropeway on the Nistru, which connected the towns Rybnitsa and Rezina, is to be completed. The works on the right side of the river were executed, while those on the left side are yet to take place.

The Prime Minister also said that they agreed to resume the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format. On March 20, there will be held an extended meeting of the political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol with the heads of the groups of experts for building confidence.

Yevgheny Shevchuk said the meeting was positive and there are hopes that the problems faced by the people from both sides of the Nistru will be solved. Tiraspol and Chisinau will have to overcome the unpleasant situations that were created artificially so as to improve people’s lives.

As regards the insurance that is to be paid by owners of cars with Moldovan license numbers when travelling to Transnistria, the Transnistrian leader said the experts from both sides of the river are to meet and to identify an acceptable solution.
