China donates Moldova $2m for drought relief

The Government of the People’s Republic of China granted $2 million to help Moldova alleviate the effects of this summer’s drought. The grant agreement was signed in the middle of this week by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary E.S. Jianwei Gong, on behalf of China, and Economy & Trade Minister Igor Dodon, representing Moldova.
Under the grant agreement, throughout 2008 China will deliver to Moldova various goods to diminish the impact of the drought.
Over 2001-2007 the People’s Republic of China has donated material assistance worth 45 million Yuan to Moldova (the equivalent of $6.06 million)
