China and the Republic of Moldova have launched together issues of postage stamps on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. In a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Minister Nicu Popescu and Ambassador Yan Webin welcomed the friendly relations and reliable partnership between the two states, IPN reports.

Nicu Popescu noted that the relations with China during the past 30 years were strengthened by multiple official and personal contacts. Good dynamics were established in the dialogue in the commercial, political and education sectors.

“Despite the geographical distance between our countries, China is an important commercial partner and the most important market in Asia for the Moldovan wine. I’m glad to ascertain that we annually export almost 9 million bottles of wine and want this figure to grow each year. I’m hopeful that the investors and tourists from China during the coming years will continue to discover our country’s potential,” said Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

The Moldovan official noted that in important moments the people of China stood by the Republic of Moldova, supporting bilateral assistance projects, donating equipment for the Customs Service, street surveillance equipment for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, consumables, equipment and vaccines throughout the pandemic period, offering also assistance to deal with the Ukrainian refugee crisis.

For his part, Ambassador Yan Wenbin compared the relations between China and the Republic of Moldova with a wine that becomes better together with its maturation. “The friendship between our countries is like Moldovan wine, being 30 years old and with a unique flagrance”. Despite the big differences existing between the republican of Moldova and China, during the past 30 years the two states permanently adhered to such principles as mutual respect, equality, non-interference in internal affairs, supporting each other in crucial issues related to national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Our key task at present is to swifter and better realize the cooperation potential of the two countries in such sectors as trade, economy, investments and others,” stated Yan Wenbin. The diplomat expressed his confidence that by joint efforts, the friendship between China and the Republic of Moldova will last in time as the Great Wall of China and the Soroca Fortress depicted on the stamps do.

In connection with the event, the Ministry hosted an exhibition of paintings made by young people in a contest staged on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between China and Moldova.
