Nineteen orphans that will go to school in the first grade on September 1 took the seats of the municipal councilors in the big hall of the Chisinau City Hall for an hour. The children met the Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-prim Neo reports.
The event, which is already a tradition, was organized in support of all the children that remained without parents. Dorin Chirtoaca offered the children by a spelling book, sweets and 1,500 lei in aid. He taught the children the first lesson: he spoke about their future and the school and wished them success at school and many good marks and told them to do fewer larks.
“I want to speak to you like to mature people. I see that nowadays the children have a special capacity – to understand and treat the problems faced by the grownups and even offer solutions to them,” the mayor told the children. The kids listened to him attentively and recited poems about the school and our language for him.
Svetlana Chifa, the head of the Children’s Rights Protection Division, gave the children by a bell that “would help them be disciplined and remember them to return to the City Hall in nine years to make reports”. Dorin Chirtoaca also received such a bell.
The event was organized the eighth consecutive year on the initiative of the municipal Children’s Rights Protection Division. Presently, the Division keeps under supervision 1,012 children that remained without parental care. Out of these, 609 children benefit from monthly allowances worth 500 lei.
