Children stage plays for children

A Children’s and Youth Theater called “Wonderland” starts work in Chisinau. It is a project carried out by the Studio “Artis”. The actors will be children aged between 3 and 18, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, director of “Artis” Studio Cristina Popa said the troupe has staged plays for two years, but the theater will be opened officially only now. Scenes from the plays performed by the 160 actors of the theater will be presented at the opening on April 8. Four plays are now being produced – Little Red Riding Hood, the Kid with Three Nanny Goats, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Harap-Alb (The White Moor). They will be premiered at “Licurici” Theater on May 12. Project coordinator Tatiana Filip said the actors were selected from a number of education institutions by contest. They attend courses to develop their role-playing abilities. The troupe is regularly extended. A new casting will take place in September. Those who are selected to play at the Theater “Wonderland” pay a monthly fee of 200 lei. The children from families on low incomes are exempted from this fee. The Children’s and Youth Theater “Wonderland” will be launched at the Actor’s House on April 8, starting at 6pm. Sixteen theaters have been registered with the Theater Union of Moldova.
