Children offer toys and books to adults as gift

“We like the toys, but we are not toys. Respect our rights.” This is how a group of children of the Chisinau Theoretical High School “Gheorghe Asachi” attracted the adults’ attention during a flashmob meeting dedicated to 10 years of the signing of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The children gave toys and books to grownups as a gift, Info-Prim Neo reports. Third-grader Mihaela Scutaru said the adults must respect the rights of the children, while the children must do their duties. “The rights of the children must not be violated,” said representatives of another group of children, from the Media Center for Youth. “We want that the people observe the children’s rights. Many rights are infringed, but the children do not know about them,” said Adelina Negruta, a member of the Media Center for Youth. The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted at the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1989.
