The eighth International Animation Film Festival Anim’est will be waiting for children aged between 3 and 12  at the Odeon Cinema during October 19-21, when there will be screened animation films intended for them. Three series of short films from the Minimest  competition and two feature films will be shown during the festival. The children will be able to become themselves animators as part of creative workshops, IPN reports.

According to the organizers, the Minimest films will be shown at the Odeon Cinema on October 19, at 2pm, and during October 20-21, at 12 noon. There will be shown 21 short films centering on such issues as friendship, care for nature, tolerance, curiosity and courage.

The young public could follow films based on such classical stories as “La Tortue d'or”, a production of Les Films du Nord, “The Highway Rat” and the recent launches “A Little Light” under the direction of Vladislav Bayramgulov, who since 2011 has directed the animated series “Masha and the Bear”.

Outside the Minimest programs 1, 2 and 3, Anim’est recommends the children not to miss two films directed by Irish animator Tomm Moore. “The Secret of Kells” was nominated for Oscar in the “Best Animated Feature” and for the European Film Awards and won the Public Prize at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. The film could be watched on October 20, at 6pm.

On the last day of Anim’est Chisinau, the children could see Tomm Moore’s film inspired by the Irish folklore “Song of the Sea”. The film will be shown on October 21, at 5pm.

During the festival, the children could also take part in workshops where they will create the own characters, stories and the first animation films, working with cut paper. The made films will be presented in the ceremony that will close the eighth edition of Anim’est. The workshops are intended for children aged between 8 and 12. To register, the children or their parents should send an email with the name and age of the child and a short description of the child’s favorite animated character  to the address alisabacalova@gmail.com.

As part of the eighth edition of Anim’est, groups of children to the screenings within Minimest 1, 2 and 3 will have free access. For the other screenings, tickets can be bought at www.iticket.md and from the cinema throughout the festival.
