The director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” Claudia Balaban said the libraries in villages are much poorer than the urban ones and do not have all the necessary books. Now that the first mobile library “Bibliobus” was launched, the rural children will be able to choose from among over 1,000 book titles. “We are very glad that despite the fact that we have laptops and electronic books in our “Bibliobus”, the children choose to read traditional books,” Claudia Balaban has told IPN.

According to her, it is a very positive change among the children given that they have an alternative with over 600 book titles in electronic format. However, they prefer to read paper books. “Many children from villages ask us if we sell the books. We can only lend them. We already managed to travel to a lot of Moldovan settlements where there are no libraries and writers never go there. That’s why the mobile library is always accompanied by writers,” said the director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga”.

Claudia Balaban also said that she didn’t count how many children visited the mobile library, but their number is very great. On the Our Language Day, the mobile library will be in the square of the Puppet Theater “Licurici”.
