Twenty volunteers of the association Little People Moldova will wear bandanas in support of Moldovan children and youth with cancer, during a event organized in Chisinau on February 15, the International Childhood Cancer Day, IPN reports.
Elena Armasu, member of the board of Little People Moldova, explained that the bandana is not only an accessory, but a token of solidarity with the children and youth who wear it to hide the effects of chemotherapy.
Association volunteers will tell about the need to help children with cancer and about their problems. They will also sell bandanas and wristbands and the money will be used to fund the association's projects. The Brave Lion, the association's mascot who helps children at the Oncological Institute to get through the painful procedures, will also be present.
Armasu said that there were no psychological counseling services for children and youth with cancer in the country and that Little People Moldova offered such counseling for free daily to the 60 children hospitalized at the Cancer Institute in Chisinau. The children respond well to the treatment and are less afraid, a fact confirmed by both parents and doctors.
