Almost a month after the incident in Ungheni, the two-year-old boy who fell into the void in the elevator shaft from the sixth floor was discharged from the hospital. The Mother and Child Institute said that the boy is in a satisfactory condition and could go home, IPN reports.

The child was hospitalized on September 11 in an extremely serious state, with multiple fractures and injuries to internal organs. His condition was critical and posed a major danger to his life. In the days that followed, the child was in a drug-induced coma, on directed breathing, in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

“Thanks to the advanced treatment and the tireless efforts of the medical team, the condition of the little patient began to improve. On September 25, owing to the signs of recovery, he was transferred to the Neurosurgery Unit to begin an intensive rehabilitation process. On October 4, the child was discharged in a satisfactory condition,” reads a press release from the Mother and Child Institute.

The case occurred in a residential building in Ungheni town. The mother put the stroller between the doors to hold the elevator and turned to get a bag. At that point, the boy fell into the shaft as the elevator went up to one of the upper floors.
