The head of the General Police Inspectorate Iurie Podarilov told a news conference that the child’s mother on October 30 informed the police that her daughter went missing. She related that she had to go to work and left the child in the care of a friend on October 27.

It was established that the child was killed with special cruelty in the apartment that the two suspects rented in Ciocana district. The suspected woman has a criminal record, being earlier convicted of hooliganism

The preliminary examinations showed the child suffered a head injury that caused her death. The child suffered internal organ injuries and bruises. When the two were arrested, they weren’t under the influence. They do not accept blame. The child’s biological father didn’t take part in the education of his daughter, while her mother lived with another man who is now serving time in jail. She was repeatedly fined for inappropriate education.

Tatiana Ignat-Dicusar, of the Ciocana Prosecutor’s Office, said that a criminal case was started on this case on October 31. The two suspects face 15 to 20 years in jail or life.

Aliona Dragomirețcaia, head of the Minors Safety Division of the General Police Inspectorate, stated that when a child is considered to be in a situation or risk, including street children, the local public authorities must take measures to protect the rights of the child and identity ways for solving the situation. If the minor can become the victim of an offense, the police become involved depending on circumstances.

Over 600 missing children cases were reported during the first nine months of 2021. All the children were identified. In three cases, the children were found dead. The police call on society not to be indifferent and to inform the police about the risks faced by children. The parents are urged to establish good communication with their children and to monitor the activities in which minors are involved.
