A girl aged nine died when she was hit by a car in a crosswalk on Grenoble St in Chisinau in the morning of March 11. Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati said the girl was crossing the street legally.
The child was struck by a car driven by a 22-year-old man. The girl was rushed to the Chisinau Children’s Hospital “V. Ignatenco”, but died shortly as a result of her injuries.
The police are to establish if the man was speeding and was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver faces three to seven years in jail.
