The two-year-old boy from Iargara village of Leova district, who was hit by a train on June 20, was transported to the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau, where he was operated.

Contacted by IPN, the Institute’s spokeswoman Steluta Andreev said the child is in a serious, but stable state. He is in intensive care and is in a coma.

The boy, who was in the care of his elder brother aged ten, was collecting grass together with his brother near the railroad. The engine driver braked when he saw the child on the railroad, but the impact couldn’t have been avoided.

The exact causes of the incident are yet to be found out.
