The agri-employers presented their initiatives and experience in combating the worst forms of child labor in agriculture and food industry. They confirmed their commitment to further promote the Code of Conduct for Employers on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Agriculture and the Food Industry, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Child labour affects both children and enterprises,” chairperson of the National Federation of Employers in Agriculture and Food Industry (FNPAIA) Alexandru Slusari said in a National Conference cantering on the World Day against Child Labour, which is marked on June 12. According to a communiqué from the FNPAIA, Alexandru Slusari stated that the FNPAIA will further promote the Code of Conduct for Employers on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Agriculture and the Food Industry, whish was approved by the 15 member-associations in December 2007. The National Conference focused on the “Roadmap for Achieving the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor by 2016” – the outcome of the Hague Child Labor World Conference, in which a representative of the employers from the Republic of Moldova participated. The event in Chisinau brought together managers of agri-enterprises, supporting the FNPAIA initiative on combating child labour, members of a team that during 2008 and 2009 monitored how employers comply with the Child Labour Code of Conduct, and representatives of social partners: employers, trade unions, and the government.
