A 48-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in a powerful home blast in Hrubna Noua village of Falesti district in the morning of September 3. Her granddaughter aged four was found dead under the debris after almost four hours of searches, IPN reports.
According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the rescuers who travelled to the scene found the house seriously damaged and a woman who needed medical care. The four-year-old girl went missing. Ten more rescue teams of the Balti Rescue Search Department No. 2 as well as villagers intervened to help to look for the girl. After over three hours of searches, she was found dead with head injuries under the wreckage outside the house.
It is known that the child was playing outside, near the house. When the explosion occurred, the girl was hurt and covered by debris. The child’s grandmother was hospitalized in a serious state, with burns on almost 75% of the body.
According to preliminary information, a gas cylinder exploded without causing a fire. An investigation is under way.
