The chief architect of the capital city Vladimir Modarca says the Chisinau City Hall should sue the persons that hinder the building works by unjustified protests. Modarca says that people became too impudent. According to him, the people accuse him of something that he did not do. The architect says that the City Hall should not defend the residents that express their dissatisfaction with the appearance of new constructions, most of the times without groundless reasons. He says that there will be many conflicts in the city in the future because the General Urbanistic Plan envisages the construction of residential blocks and of social-cultural and economic facilities. The mayor of Chisinau said he is against the chief architect’s proposals as it is much more important to communicate with the people. According to him, such a situation is the result of a non-transparent decision making process. Dorin Chirtoaca stressed that the investors should be also treated respectfully because they contribute money to the budget. The mayor asked the officials in charge to examine and publish the information about the freedom to protest. Under the current legislation, three rounds of consultations with the population should be held during the construction works.
