World War II veterans and invalids are offered special discount airfares to Russia as part of the “Veteran-2008” promotion campaign, which will run from May 1 to 31. The campaign is occasioned by Victory Day on May 9. The flights will be operated by the Russian Siberia Airlines. In Moldova, the tickets will be available at the outlets of the following airlines and travel agencies: Expres-Aero, Voiaj International and Eco Tur Nova. According to Mariana Prisacaru, representative of Voiaj International, a standard round-trip air ticket costs €3, regardless of the destination city. In addition, airport taxes will be charged, ranging from €30 and €140, depending on destination. For example, the airport tax charged for an airfare to Moscow and back is €38. The persons accompanying first degree invalids will enjoy a 25% discount off the fare (€105 without airport taxes). To get airfares at special prices, war veterans and invalids should produce a specific document that confirms their status. No bookings have been made so far, the airlines said.
