The Chisinau administration provided by 500 lei to persons who took part in the Chernobyl accident cleanup and the families of those who died on the occasion of 25 years of the nuclear disaster. The money can be taken from the branches of Banca de Economii, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A sum of 450,000 lei was allocated from the municipal social support find for the purpose. Half of the beneficiaries received the money before Easter, said the fund's head Mihai Sorochin. Those who did not manage to take the money have three more months at their disposal.
On April 16, it is 25 years of the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe. A charity meal will be given in Chisinau for 700 persons. A concert dedicated to the Chernobyl accident victims will be held at the Army House. In the morning, government officials and participants in the Chernobyl cleanup laid flowers at the monument to Ruler Stefan the Great. A meeting to commemorate those who died was held in the Valea Trandafirilor Park in the afternoon. The local authorities promised the construction of the memorial complex “Chernobyl” will be completed soon and the Chernobyl Cleanup Participants' Church will be reconstructed.
As many as 3,500 Moldovan took part in the Chernobyl cleanup. 65% of them remained invalids.
