Teams of six companies based in Chisinau accepted to take part in the second volleyball championship “Rotaract Cup 2016”, which is a charity event held to collect funds for purchasing two perfusion supports for facilitating the treatment of children in the hematology ward of the Oncological Institute. The president of the Chisinau Rotaract Club Mariana Malic has told IPN that owing to the raised funds and to a contribution by the Club, the two supports will be bought within two weeks.
Mariana Malic also said that such a support costs about €420, while the hematology ward has only three of the seven necessary supports. The support on rolls, for holding the perfusion systems, enables to move while the perfusion is administered. Thus, the child is not confined to bed during the procedure and can move and play. For a small child, it is very hard to stay in the same position for a longer period of time. Thus, this device will facilitate considerably the treatment of children.
The money collected in the first volleyball championship “Rotaract Cup” last year was used to build a playground with two swings and a slide at the Oncological Institute. The parents sought help from members of the Club “Rotaract” after they visited the children during holidays and saw that these didn’t have where to play while they were outside.
