More than 90 deaf children who study at Special School No. 12 in Chisinau on December 10 staged a great performance at the Ginta Latina Theater alongside national singers. Entrance to the concert was free and each spectator could donate money. The proceeds will be used, as the previous years, to outfit the school with ICT technology. Besides, the children with hearing impairments exhibited a series of things made by them, IPN reports.
The school’s principal Nina Rusu said the charity concert “Help Me to Hear You” was at its third edition. “Today it is a day when we show to the general public who we are and what our hearing-impaired children can do. We should not place barriers and have fears and should welcome them in society as important persons. They need only our affection, attention and care and need to feel that they are real members of society. This is our goal aimed at efficiently integrating them into society,” stated Nina Rusu.
The charity concert was organized with support from the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council. Head of the Public Relations Section Elena Vorotneac said the event was aimed at sensitizing society as the people should know that these children are not different and are very talented despite disability. The concerts motivate these children and help society to mobilize in support of such initiatives.
Attending the event, Elena Belei, secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, said this performance generated special feelings. Accidentally or not, this day coincided with the first snowfall and this means that the miracle of winter holidays started. ”These children make us love and be attentive and encourage us,” stated Elena Belei, noting that this talent presented by children makes world better.
In the concert, the children sang famous songs in sign language together with Adriana Ochisanu, Georgeta Voinovan, Aura, Mariana Mihaila, Catalina Rusu and others and danced different styles of dances.
