A charity concert entitled “Help me to hear you” was held in Chisinau on December 3. The event was intended for the hearing-impaired children of the Chisinau-based Special School No. 12, IPN reports.

Children of the given school sang together with national artists on the stage of the Theater “Ginta Latina”. The children also mounted an exhibition of things made by them. The proceeds of the concert will be used to equip the classrooms of the Special School No. 12 with information technology, adjusted to the special needs of these children.

The school’s director Nina Rusu said the hearing impairments are not an obstacle to the integration of these children into society. “By this performance, we aimed to create conditions for these children so that they could satisfy their daily needs,” she stated

The charity concert was organized by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport. “We make effort to switch from statements to deeds. We must take care of all the children, regardless of their physical and emotional state. We must support the parents of these children who have special needs so that they feel well near each other,” said the Division’s head Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 1,538 children with special needs attended special education institutions in Moldova in 2014-2015. 12% of these had hearing impairments.
