Charity concert held in Chisinau to support elderly people

More than 90,000 lei in proceeds was collected at a charity concert entitled “Hands that help are blessed” that was held at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” in the evening of May 15. National singers delighted the public with light and folk music songs, mobilized by the Public Association “Homecare” of Moldova in a move to support elderly people who cannot move and need assistance, IPN reports.

“Homecare” director Tamara Adașan said the organization he heads has worked for over 20 years and in the period helped more than 10,000 people confined to bed. The proceeds collected at the charity concert will go to develop services to help the vulnerable population. “This is our activity. Given that the elderly people and people in need are many in number at present, many of the young people went abroad and the need is great, we decided to organize this benefit concert, “ stated Tamara Adașan.

She thanked the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moldova, which has helped “Homecare” for over ten years. The Czech Government finances 90% of the care projects managed by “Homecare”. The organization also managed eight centers that annually serve over 1,000 elderly people, solitary persons, persons with disabilities, patients with different terminal chronic diseases who benefit from a varied free package of medical-social services at home.

Eudochia Pârgari said she came to the concert to get rid of the daily routine and because she wants to help those in need. “We must help each other. Anyone can find oneself in such a situation. We try to help as much as we can,” she stated.

“It’s a pleasure to come and help within possibilities. Life should be lived as it is predestined,” stated Maria Prangachi.

Alexandra Piatac is one of the beneficiaries of AO “Homecare”. In the charity concert, she thanked all those who bought tickets and came to support those in need. She noted kindness among children in the Republic of Moldova should be cultivated at an early age so that we have a tolerant and united society.

AO “Homecare” was founded in 2005 to sensitize public opinion to the problems faced by socially-deprived persons, to realize and defend the civil, social and other legitimate rights of the elderly people, persons with disabilities, children and other socially-unprotected persons. The association has a license for providing consultative-curative assistance in internal medicine and medical-social homecare. Among the association’s donors are the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moldova, the Czech Development Agency and the Cheech foundation Caritas.
