Drivers who will travel to Transnistria should take into account a number of changes to the Road Traffic Code of the Transnistrian region that took effect on June 7. The local press reported that among the changes is the obligation to present the driver’s license to traffic inspectors at request. This provision early aroused considerable dissatisfaction, IPN reports.
A series of changes refer to the road signs. There were introduced such signs as “Green Arrow” and “Stopping Banned”. At the intersection with the sign “Green Arrow”, for example, at the banning sign near the stoplights the drivers will have to give way to other units of transport if they do not intend to turn. If they do disrupt traffic, they can continue their way without stopping at the intersection.
As to the sign “Stopping banned”, located near commercial units, this will enable drivers who supply products to these units to stop nearby to load and unload goods on condition that they get a relevant permit from the ministry of the interior of Transnistria.
The changes concerning the seatbelt provide that only driving inspectors will be able to travel with this unfastened while the student is driving. Inside communities, the invalids and employees of operational services will not be obliged to fasten the seatbelt.
During rush hours, between 7am and 9am and between 4:30am and 6:30am, the minibus drivers have the right to transport by only five passengers standing.
