The change of the government of the Republic of Moldova after the parliamentary elections that will take place in 2018 could fatally damage the Moldovan – Romanian relations, political analyst Anatol Taranu stated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

According to him, Romania should not be regarded as a neighbor only. “Romania is more than a neighbor. Romania becomes a European country at a very fast pace, while the Republic of Moldova lags much behind. This relationship with Romania in a way helps us to overcome these shortcomings,” stated Anatol Taranu.

He noted the question is, if the Moldovan-Romanian relations have a future and will continue without hiatuses? “The change of government in Chisinau in 2018 could fatally damage the Moldovan-Romanian relations and I’m absolutely convinced that this will be immediately felt in the quality of life of a lot of citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” said the analyst. In his opinion, in general the relationship with Romania is endangered by internal factors in Moldova, not by the “political convulsions” in Bucharest.

The visit paid by the Romanian Premier to Chisinau transmitted an important political signal, of support for Moldova in its European integration efforts, said Deputy Speaker of Parliament Valeriu Ghiletski. “Besides the transmitted openness, a very warm and friendly attitude, they also spoke about concrete thing, such as the connection through gas pipelines and high-voltage power lines. Money was already offered for this and relevant laws were already adopted,” stated the MP.

Valeriu Ghiletski noted he would like the Republic of Moldova to have more Romanian investments in the country’s economy.

On February 27, the Prime Minister of Romania Viorica Dancila paid a visit to Chisinau.
