Chamber of Trade and Industry begins issuing ATA Carnets

The Chamber of Trade and Industry of Moldova started to issue ATA Carnets to companies on July 1. The ATA Carnet is valid for one year and can be obtained within five workdays, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vasile Nicolai,the head of the Chamber's Expertise, Assessment and Certification Department that issues the Carnets, said the document allows reducing the clearance costs. The customs procedures are simplified by introducing a document that replaces the national customs declarations for three categories of merchandise: commercial samples, professional equipment and goods for use at exhibitions and fairs. Among the countries that will recognize the ATA Carnets issued in Moldova are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belarus, China, Russia, Germany, Greece, France, Italy, Poland, Romania, the U.S., Turkey, Ukraine, and others. Moldova joined the Convention on Temporary Admission on June 26, 1990. The ATA Carnets are issued and recognized in 67 ATA member states.
