A quantity of 8,000 tonnes of crude oil will be released from the state reserves for SA Termoelectrica, as the Commission for Exceptional Situations decided in a move to optimize natural gas consumption after Gazprom reduced the supplied amounts, IPN reports.
Termoelectrica will use the 8,000 tonnes of crude oil to produce electricity and heat. In accordance with the decision, the National Agency for Energy Regulation, when adjusting the charges for 2022, is to accept the sum of 236,993.8 lei as the equivalent value of the crude oil used by SA Termoelectrica in the period to produce electricity and heat.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will estimate the costs for supplementing the state reserves with the quantity of released crude oil and will present the calculations to the Ministry of Finance for being included in the 2023 state budget law.
On September 30, the Moldovan authorities informed that Moldovagaz received from Gazprom confirmation for the supply in October of 5.7 million m3 a day, out of the projected amount of 8.06 million m3 a day. The supplies were cut by 30%. Later, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu said that if Gazprom does not fulfill its contractual obligations, the amounts needed by Moldovagaz can be secured through daily tender contests.
